DĂa de Muertos

Many regions across Latin America are united by a shared pre-Hispanic heritage. Bolivia, Guatemala, Mexico and Peru share the Day of the Dead, a tradition that honors the return of lost loved ones to the world of the living. Sons, daughters, friends, everyone gathers to welcome their departed ones on these special days to share food, music, and memories.

We honor this tradition by showcasing the unique ways it is celebrated across these countries. From Guatemala’s Barriletes, to Peru’s Toritos and Retablos, Bolivia’s T'antawawas, and Mexico’s Ofrendas, our loved ones from the beyond will join in, sharing these ephemeral altars—and if we’re lucky, perhaps a story or two.

Presented in collaboration with the Embassy of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala, the Embassy of Peru and The LINE DC. Experience this unique exhibition during our Día de Muertos event on November 2 for reserved ticket holders, and during regular hours until November 27.
