Our #In15Minutes video series is back with a special guest, our favorite chef Pati Jinich, who spoke with us about her favorite food, her family, and the details of her upcoming book ‘Treasures of the Mexican Table’.

Pati Jinich is a James Beard Award-winning Mexican chef who has dedicated her career to building a shared understanding between her two home countries: Mexico, where she was born, and the United States, where she lives currently and is raising her family. Her long-running PBS daytime series, Pati’s Mexican Table, has brought Mexican flavors, colors, and textures into American homes and kitchens, as viewers have watched Pati thoughtfully and enthusiastically guide them through the various diverse geographic regions of the country.


EPISODE 3: CAST WAR OF YUCATÁN

Have you ever heard about the Caste War of Yucatán? This historical event was a Maya rebellion against the government, landowners, church taxes, and land grabbers that lasted sixty years and went through long periods of peace, war, and foreign intervention in Mexico and North America.

On May 3, 2021 we commemorate the end of this conflict in 1901 and we take part in the official apology for the grievances caused to the Mayan Peoples. To learn more about this story of resistance we talked with historian Rajeshwari Dutt.
