"Music for the Eyes" Mexican Theater of the Deaf
Music for the eyes is the silent images of the Deaf and the intangible universe of music, united by one common language: the Theater.
Without the use of voice, Seña y Verbo: Mexican Theatre of the Deaf explores the infinite possibilities provided by the body and the imagination. Everybody will enjoy a concert out of the ordinary in which three Deaf actors and a Hearing director perform four short scenes inspired in musical pieces by some of the greatest composers that ever lived.
Written and directed by: Sergio Bátiz*
Deaf cast: Eduardo DomĂnguez, SofĂa Motte, and Abraham Zúñiga
Hearing cast: Sergio Bátiz*
*Full-time teacher at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
This engagement of "Seña y Verbo: Teatro de Sordos" is made possible through Performing Arts Global Exchange, a program of Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
