About Natalia Arroyo
Award-winning Multi-instrumentalist and composer Natalia Arroyo was born in the Mexican border, amid the social transition between two cultures, and has dedicated her life to spreading contemporary traditional music of northern México worldwide. Natalia has performed in important stages and musical festivals around the world. The BBC Radio of London dedicated a complete program to her work as a soloist. In Mexico City, Germán Dehesa expressed himself with his peculiar form that distinguished him “If I wrote as Natalia Arroyo plays the violin, I would have won the Nobel Prize for Literature” Germán Dehesa, 2008. In August of 2016 she was selected from about 400 musicians around the world to attend the OMI International Artist Residence in New York.
About Edwin Montes
Montes has a formation in classic guitar and has won regional and national guitar competitions. He is passionate about improvisation, which as taken him to explore other genres like, rock, middle eastern music, jazz and experimental music. He has performed solo and in different groups around Mexico, U.S.A. and Italy. Montes is an active member of Wilfrido Terrazas Sea Quintet, Trio Berimbau, Ensamble Nuova Musica, Bucefalo and Natalia Arroyo group.
About José Luis Rodríguez Cruz
Native of Baja California Mexico, José Luis is an active and crossover musician who has been working on both sides of popular contemporary music and classical music since the last years. He has a music and psychology degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Baja California. Rodríguez studied double bass with the international renowned double bass player and composer Andres Martin and also has studied technical and interpretative music in Italy and Switzerland with Franco Petracchi, Mirella Vedeva, Alain Raux. He is the Double Bass Professor in the Universidad Autonoma de Baja California and the Youth Orchestral Program “Esperanza Azteca”.
Program
Canciones para no llorar, is a compendium of Mexican music mainly from the region of “tierra caliente” (hot lands, Guerrero and Michoacán States) and songs from the northern island region (Baja California) of fishing communities. The group consolidates its own voice in a fresh and innovative sound with compositions that blend the root of the traditional and contemporary Mexican music, where the improvisation of violin, guitar and double bass are a fundamental part of the concert. |
