In Mexico, where culture pulses through every corner, art becomes a natural form of expression. From this fertile ground emerges the work of Olga Hernández, an artist who doesn’t merely create images—she transforms memories, emotions, and ideas into living art. Her work is a bridge between the intimate and the collective, between legacy and reinvention.
This exhibition brings together three key pieces: Chanting Luck,Yearnings, andThe Unstructured Structure of the Mind. Through them, Olga takes us from familial nostalgia to the depths of inner thought, from traditional games to inner exploration. Each work is a testament to her identity deeply rooted in her heritage.
In Chanting Luck, the traditional game of lotería becomes an emotional ritual and homage to her childhood, filled with paintings, symbols and cherished voices. Yearnings transforms a musical composition by her father and a poem by her uncle into a canvas that sings the past in vivid color. Meanwhile, The Unstructured Structure of the Mind opens a window into a mental landscape where thought flows freely and boundless.
More than an exhibition, this is a declaration of the impact of art when it is born from family and freedom. Olga Hernández does not beautify reality—she reveals it. And in doing so, she reminds us that luck is not only played, it is painted, it is sung… and it is shared. Because when art comes from the soul, the personal becomes collective. And in Olga’s hands, memory is painted, the mind expands, and luck is sung with the voice of a woman, an artist, and Mexican.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Lover of color and of experimenting with art, which as she defines it: “It is the most abstract feeling, but authentic at the same time.” Her art is spontaneous, impulsive, and unpredictable, because it changes with each brushstroke, a reflection of the feeling that she is experiencing and wants to convey; her work has life and heart.
She likes to experiment with techniques and materials, using recycled objects. Give them life and incorporate in the same work oil, acrylic, watercolor and her personal stamp that is the collage by sheet music, maps and books, among other material.
Her current work is characterized by having simple and naive, where imperfection gives meaning to authenticity, created under "a single stroke" without taking off the brush until the drawing is finished and then adding color with different elements to enrich it.
