Our journey through the Mexican states resumes with the arrival of Baja California, a lively region bordering the U.S. with a landscape that encompasses mountains and beaches on the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of California.
This event is presented by the Embassy of Mexico in the United States, the Government of the State of Baja California and the Mexican Cultural Institute.

Mujeres pájaro (Bird Women) by visual artist Alejandra Phelts
This exhibition presents key aspects of women's everyday life in Tijuana, revealing identity conflicts while highlighting the strengths of women living in this binational region. Alejandra Phelts is an artist from Baja California, and her work has been showcased in 15 countries.
Kaleidoscopic Center by multidisciplinary artist Irma Sofía Poeter
The Kaleidoscopic Center exhibition consists of a series of mandalas. These incredible circular pieces, made with textiles of various colors, textures, and origins, go beyond their physical form to represent structural models of life. Irma Sofía Poeter is a Mexican American artist who has lived on both sides of the border between Tijuana and San Diego.
Explore these two new exhibits during regular opening hours of the Institute. Free entry with no need to register.
FRIDAY, JULY 28
10:00 – 18:00 | One-day-only crafts exhibition made by three of the native tribes of Baja California: Kiliwa, Kumiai, and Cucapa. You will find beautiful dolls, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and even traditional clothing such as capes, blouses, chest plates, and chokers. Registration is not required.
17:00 – 18:00 | Documentary film screening Las rutas de Harry Crosby (The Journeys of Harry Crosby).
18:30 – 18:45 | Baja California Cowboy Party with the Ballet Folklorico de Ensenada.
19:00 – 20:00 | Dance Theater Briseida López and Gilberto Corrales presents: Cielito Sweet.
SATURDAY, JULY 29
11:00 – 16:00 | #OpenHouse featuring tasting of traditional snacks + Baja California Vaquera Party with the Ballet Folklorico de Ensenada throughout the day. Registration is not required.
11:00 – 12:30 | Graphic Novel Workshop with author and illustrator Charles Glaubitz.
13:00 – 14:00 | Book presentation Starseeds 3 by author and illustrator Charles Glaubitz.
