A rebellion and war of resistance that lasted many decades, the Caste War’s imprint defines both the region and the town. The Caste War of Yucatán (also known as the Maya Social War) is generally acknowledged as the longest and most successful indigenous rebellion in Latin American history. For the past 80 years, the people of Tihosuco have been preserving the remnants of this rebellion on their ejido lands. Abandoned towns, haciendas, ranchos, roads, and walls are all found throughout the ejido lands surrounding the town

We are happy to share with our audience a collection of materials about this project and the history of the Caste War!

BILINGUAL COMIC BOOKS BASED ON THE LIVES OF THE CASTE WAR LEADERS

[3d-flip-book mode=”fullscreen” id=”4507″ ][/3d-flip-book]

[3d-flip-book mode=”fullscreen” id=”4508″ ][/3d-flip-book]

[3d-flip-book mode=”fullscreen” id=”4509″ ][/3d-flip-book]

IMAGENES DE TIHOSUCO, A SMALL BOOKLET WITH ORAL HISTORIES AND OLD PHOTOGRAPHS

[3d-flip-book mode=”fullscreen” id=”4511″ ][/3d-flip-book]

[3d-flip-book mode=”fullscreen” id=”4512″ ][/3d-flip-book]

BROCHURE FOR THE MUSEO DE LA GUERRA DE CASTAS (CASTE WAR MUSEUM)

[3d-flip-book mode=”fullscreen” id=”4510″ ][/3d-flip-book]

The Tihosuco Heritage Preservation and Community Development Project is an ongoing collaboration between the PennCHC, the Caste War Museum, the Tihosuco Ejido, and the Mayor’s office of Tihosuco.
